Faltan solo tres días para que Magnus Carlsen comience una nueva defensa de su título mundial.
Lo defenderá por cuarta vez, ante Ian Nepomniachtchi, en Dubái.
Ninguna de sus tres defensas, ante Anand en 2014, Karjakin en 2016 y Caruana en 2018, fue fácil, y con Karjakin hasta estuvo al borde de la derrota.
El Elo favorece a Carlsen, los resultados anteriores a Nepo, pero eso no importó en los matches Capablanca vs. Alekhine, Alekhine vs. Euwe y Fischer vs. Spassky, por ejemplo.
En mi libro sobre Nepomniachtchi, publicado hace pocos meses, hice una breve mención al match.
Entonces todo el mundo daba a Carlsen como favorito, no obstante, también casi todos le dan chances a Nepo, esa evaluación no cambió.
Hay muchas opiniones interesantes, Judit Polgar dijo que una baza que tiene el desafiante es que él cree firmemente en la victoria, una seguridad que no veía en Karjakin, por ejemplo.
Por su parte, Karjakin dijo que Carlsen tendía a perder el control si las cosas no iban tan bien como esperaba, como se pudo ver en el match entre ellos, etc.
Se verá, tendremos un match apasionante, a 14 partidas esta vez, no a 12, lo que es un progreso.
Primera defensa de Carlsen
Carlsen vs. Anand
Hoy se cumplen siete años de la finalización de la primera defensa del título mundial por parte de Carlsen, ante Anand, en Sochi 2014.
En vista de la relativa facilidad con que Carlsen le arrebató la corona a Anand en 2013, la revancha parecía que iba a ser más fácil, pero no lo fue.
Hablé un poco de ese duelo en mi nota 525 publicada el 2 de diciembre de 2014 en ABC Color de Asunción, Paraguay.
Un 23 de noviembre como hoy, de 2018, la china Ju Wenjun, se coronó campeona del mundo por segunda vez, venció a la rusa Katerina Lagno por 5 a 3 en la final de Khanty Mansiysk.
Ju Wenjun es la vigente campeona del mundo, intentará serlo por cuarta vez en un match previsto para 2022.

En otros 23 de noviembre nacieron maestros, como, entre otros, el cubano Román Hernández (1949 – 2021), fallecido el 1 de junio pasado, el ucraniano Vereslav Eingorn (1956) y el alemán, que es una autoridad en finales, Karsten Mueller (1970).
